A.B. ADIDAS BY BLONDEY
Continuing their now 3-year ongoing partnership, adidas Skateboarding and British designer and pro skater Blondey once again joined forces to release an all-new collection of A.B. Gazelle Indoors. Drawing inspiration from some of the footwear brand’s classic indoor football offerings, namely, the Spezial and the Gazelle, Blondey’s A.B. Gazelle Indoor is a fused silhouette of the terrace staples, one that’s been upgraded so it’d be usable on a skateboard.
“A lot of people think that us skaters shouldn’t be interested in anything other than skating … I don’t feel that way. I feel the opposite and hope that this continued partnership with adidas shows that. All of my favourite skaters have borrowed from other sports and cultures—Mark Gonzales in his fencing shoes, for example,” Blondey commented. “I’m more interested in making the Gazelle, an indoor football shoe, skateable than I am in making skate shoes. That’s why I skate for adidas.”
Available in either Grey on Grey or a combination of Miner Blue, Core Black, and Silver, both silhouettes sit on a translucent sole and are signed off with “Blondey” on silver foiling on the outer side. An apparel selection — the A.B. Jousting Jacket, the A.B. Solar Jacquard Jersey, a crew sweater and matching shorts, and a pair of Blondey’s trademark knee-high socks in acid yellow — complete the capsule, referencing the capsule’s recurring ‘80s terrace theme.
The all-grey A.B. Gazelle Indoor will be available to purchase on March 30 via Thames’ webstore, and the blue colourway and apparel capsule will release on April 20.
